A Publisher’s Picnic
Last weekend my husband and I attended the Schiffer Publishing company picnic. The event was for clients, employees and their families. Friday’s events included a series of classes for authors to understand the publishing process. Each hour, a class would be offered on numerous publishing procedures. Tips were given as to what might improve the author’s writing for a book–not to mention, to simplify an editor’s day. The presenter’s briefings and handouts were excellent, and I’m sure the notes will be referred to often in the future.
Saturday morning had an offering of continuing education of the ins and outs of publishing. The noon hour had families arriving with children, who could be found running around, and authors introducing themselves to each other. More than one author found someone they had similar interests with. Luncheon was a tasty bar-b-que with all the fixings and an enjoyable time was had by all.
Besides visiting with my editor at Schiffer Publishing, I also enjoyed the grounds around the buildings. The senior Mrs. Schiffer was a great art collector and the grounds have numerous sculptures displayed. The offices also contain paintings, sculptures, and unique shaped wood tables and desks that she has collected over the years.
Thank you Schiffer Publishing for a wonderful weekend.
